Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an experienced AKS Engineer to build, operate, and continuously improve our Kubernetes environment exclusively on Microsoft Azure.
This is a hands-on engineering and operations role for someone who enjoys owning the lifecycle of cloud-based Kubernetes platforms. You will focus on day-to-day operations, security, reliability, observability, and FinOps within Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), helping to define and implement platform standards and best practices.
Your contribution to achieving global safety, security, and sustainability:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters within Azure (AKS).
  • Own the day-to-day operation of AKS clusters across development, test, and production environments.
  • Implement and enforce Kubernetes and Azure security best practices, including RBAC, Network Policies, Azure Entra ID integration, and workload isolation.
  • Drive Kubernetes FinOps initiatives to optimize cloud infrastructure costs and establish cost visibility to help engineering teams manage their spend.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and platform dashboards using Azure-native or standard open-source tools.
  • Support incident response, troubleshoot complex AKS platform issues, and drive root cause analysis and continuous service improvement.

  • Owning skills at least 2–4+ years of hands-on experience specifically administering and operating Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), proven track record of operating and maintaining production Kubernetes environments in the cloud, practical experience managing Kubernetes networking, storage, security, version upgrades, and high availability within an Azure ecosystem.
  • Strong Kubernetes administration and operational knowledge, experience with container technologies and manifest packaging tools (Helm), experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), understanding of cloud-native networking (e.g., Azure CNI, Cilium), knowledge of monitoring and observability tools
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and Kubernetes cost-monitoring tools (e.g., Kubecost, OpenCost), familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps practices (Azure DevOps or similar).
  • An operational mindset with a passion for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement, strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly across infrastructure, development, and security teams.
  • Completed studies in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering or a comparable professional qualification
  • Fluent English required; additional languages like German are a plus
