UI / UIX Developer – Component Development Based on Design Specifications (Angular and/or React)

Since its foundation in 1925, DEKRA has been ensuring the safety of human interaction with technology and the environment through a tradition of innovative thinking. This approach is something we strive to embrace, whether it's in the practical tasks our employees perform or in the community-shaping office life.
In just two years, DEKRA Technology & Services has grown from a concept to a rapidly growing company that is a cornerstone of the parent company's global IT infrastructure.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a UI-/UIX-oriented frontend developer who translates design specifications (e.g., from Figma) into clean, reusable UI components while consistently adhering to design systems. The focus is on component-based implementation, including responsiveness, accessibility, and quality assurance.
Your contribution to achieving global safety, security, and sustainability:
  • Implementation of UI components based on design specifications (spacing, typography, colors, states, responsiveness)
  • Building and maintaining a reusable component library (design system / pattern library)
  • Implementation of design tokens (colors, spacing, typography, shadows) and ensuring consistency across the application
  • Development of layout and interaction patterns (states: hover/focus/disabled, loading, error, empty states)
  • Ensuring responsiveness (mobile/tablet/desktop) and cross-browser compatibility
  • Integration of APIs (REST/JSON) at the UI level (loading/error handling, data binding)
  • Quality measures: unit/component tests, code reviews, linting, performance checks
  • Close collaboration with UX/UI design, product owners, and backend teams (clarifying UI specifications, acceptance criteria)
The more points that apply to you, the more you can earn with us:
  • Completed studies in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering or a comparable professional qualification
  • Fluent English required; additional languages like German are a plus
Technical Requirements (Must-have):
UI Engineering / Frontend Fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript (ES6+), ideally TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of: Component-based development, CSS architecture (e.g., BEM, utility-first approaches, CSS Modules), Responsive design (Grid/Flexbox, breakpoints)
Framework Know-how (Angular and/or React)
Depending on the project tech stack:
Angular
  • Components, services, dependency injection
  • Routing, reactive forms
  • RxJS/Observables (basic to advanced)
  • Ideally experience with Angular Material or design system integration
React
  • Functional components, hooks (useState, useEffect, useMemo, etc.)
  • State management (Context API / Redux / Zustand, depending on the project)
  • Component composition and reusability patterns
  • Integration of UI libraries / design systems
Implementation Based on Design Specifications (Core Requirement!)
  • High level of precision in implementing: Pixel/spacing accuracy (e.g., 8pt grid), Typography (font sizes, line height, letter spacing), Colors and contrast according to specifications, UI states (hover/focus/active/disabled/loading/error), Component variants (size, density, themes)
  • Experience working with design tools (especially Figma), including: Inspect, Auto Layout, constraints, Export/assets, tokens/styles, component variants
Accessibility & UX Basics
  • Implementation of accessibility: Semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA only where necessary (used correctly)
  • Basic understanding of common UX principles: Consistency, feedback, error tolerance, clear information hierarchy
Quality, Testing & Tooling
  • Proficient with Git, code reviews, branching workflows
  • Testing depending on the stack: Unit/component tests (e.g., Jest, Testing Library, Jasmine/Karma), E2E optional (Cypress/Playwright)
  • Build and package tools (npm/yarn/pnpm), linting/formatting (ESLint/Prettier)
Desirable Additional Qualifications (Nice-to-have):
Experience with KiwUI (DEKRA Standard)
  • Familiarity with KiwUI design templates / component guidelines
  • Implementation/extension of KiwUI-compliant components
  • Understanding of governance: when components may be customized/extended vs. when standard usage is required
Design System / Documentation
  • Experience with Storybook (or similar tools) for documentation and visual testing
  • Working with design tokens / theming (e.g., light/dark, brand themes)
Enterprise Context
  • Experience with company-wide UI standards, approval processes, and aligned UX guidelines
  • Collaboration across multiple teams/streams (shared components, versioning)
Personal Competencies:
  • Believing that the whole is more than the sum of its parts: a.k.a. teamwork is essential to move forward
  • Being eager to share knowledge across departments and being open to acquire knowledge from others too
  • Taking education and self-development as a fundamental part of your routine
  • Thinking that a workplace is not just a place to work, but a social environment as well
In return, we are offering you:
